One week after longtime St. Johns HS head football coach Dave Mariage resigned, the school has named his replacement.

It's Andy Schmitt, the man who quarterbacked the Red Wings to the Division 3 state finals (where they lost to Lowell) in 2004.  Schmitt played QB at Eastern Michigan University from 2005-2008 before beginning his teaching and coaching career.

The school made the announcement via its Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

St. Johns is coming off a 5-5 season (including a first-round playoff loss), but won a share of the CAAC Red title with Haslett and Williamston.
