The Michigan State Spartan Hockey Team earned a split in their two game series with the Princeton Tigers with a 4-2 win Saturday night at Hobey Baker Rink.  Michigan State (5-8) drew first blood when Michael Ferrantino scored his second goal in as many nights for a 1-0 lead. The Spartans then extended the lead to three goals in the second when Matt DeBlouw and Tanner Sorensen found the back of the net. Princeton (2-7-1) rallied and got within one on third period goals from Kyle Rankin and Ryan Siiro, however the Spartans cemented the win with two seconds left on an empty net goal from Matt Berry. Jake Hildebrand had 20 saves for Michigan State and Colton Phinney made 29 saves for the Tigers. Michigan State returns home to start Big Ten play when they host the third ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers for a two game weekend series at Munn Ice Arena starting Friday night.
