The Michigan State Spartans used a 19-0 run to start the second half as they shook off the effects of a bad loss to Texas Southern and routed The Citadel 82-56 Monday night at Breslin Center. Michigan State (9-4) looked sluggish in the first half as the visiting Bulldogs from the Southern Conference kept it close, even taking the lead twice, however MSU turned it around in the second half and dominated the last 20 minutes. The Spartans had four players in double figures led Denzel Valentine's 18. Marvin Clark Jr. scored 12, Gavin Schilling had 11 and Matt Costello added 13 off the bench. The Citadel (4-7) was led by P.J Horgan who led all scorers with 19 points. Michigan State will now begin Big 10 play next Tuesday when the Maryland Terrapins come to East Lansing. Pregame coverage begins at 3:30pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM and Classic Rock 94.9 WMMQ.
