The MSU Spartans defeated the University of Maryland Terrapins tonight, 37-15. This was the first time the Spartans played against the Terrapins in 50 years. MSU got things started when Micheal Geiger kicked 2 field goals in the 1st quarter and one in the second, giving MSU a 9 point lead over Maryland. But that lead didn't last long when C.J. Brown threw a 20 yard pass to Daniel Adams for a Touchdown. The Spartans responded when Jeremy Langford rushed for 8 yards for a TD, bringing MSU up 16-7 going into Halftime. Late in the 3rd quarter. R.J. Williamson made a pick-six TD, giving MSU a 23-7 lead going into the 4th. Langford rushed 25 yards for another touchdown in the 4th. But the Terrapins struck back when Brown threw a 31 yard pass to Juwann Winfree, with a successful 2 point conversion from Derrick Hayward. But almost immediately after that, Nick Hill rushed for 33 yards for another Spartan TD for the cherry on top. C.J. Brown led the game in passing for 246 yards. Jeremy Langford led in rushing for 138 yards, and Juwann Winfree led in receiving with 80 yards. Tune in next week when your Spartans take on the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University, on Lansing's Big Talker, 1240 AM, WJIM, and Classic Rock, 94.9 FM, WMMQ.
