American Brandt Snedeker (pictured) became the 10th player in PGA Tour history to shoot a sub-60 round at a PGA Tour event when he did so on Thursday at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina.

Snedeker shot an 11-under par 59 in the first round to take the first round lead in the PGA Tour's final event before the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

It's the best round that's been shot in a PGA Tour event since Jim Furyk shot a 58 at the Travelers Championship two years ago.

Snedeker, 37, is an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour and has finished tied for third at both the Masters and British Open golf championships.  He also finished in the top 10 of the U.S. Open on two other occasions.
