On Monday, the Lansing School District named Johnel V. Davis as Sexton High School's new head football coach, replacing the retired Dan Boggan.  That's according to the Lansing State Journal.

Davis has been an assistant at Sexton since 2004, and was the team's defensive coordinator this past season.  The Big Reds finished 8-4 in 2017, they won the Division 4 District title before losing in the regionals to Edwardsburg.

Davis fills the fifth head coaching vacancy in the Mid-Michigan area with Dansville, Eastern, Everett, and Waverly already being filled.  Eaton Rapids and Bath High Schools still need to fill their head coaching openings.
