Despite the Pistons current unique situation of personnel, they will be taking a rather un-unique approach in terms of filling vacancies in their front office and basketball operations.

The team will likely hire a Team President first, then focus on the head coach, despite the likes of Dwane Casey currently available for a head coaching job in the NBA.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski seemed to confirm this thought when he broke a list of possible candidates owner Tom Gores could be looking at for next season's front office.

It's worth noting that general manager Jeff Bower is still employed in Detroit as is even rumored to be in the mix for a job next season, however given that he was a Van Gundy hire it may be unlikely he remains with the organization in 2018-19.

Of note from that list Wojnarowski tweeted, Kiki VanDeWeghe is currently the VP of basketball operations with the NBA, and previously served as the GM of the Denver Nuggets. Of local interest Shane Battier was the 1997 Mr. Basketball award winner as a high school player at Detroit Country Day.
