College football writer/commentator Brett McMurphy is reporting, via his Facebook page on Wednesday, that Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer (pictured above) knew of domestic abuse allegations against now-former assistant coach Zach Smith from back in 2015.

This contradicts what Coach Meyer told the media at Big Ten Football Media Days in Chicago last week.

“I was never told about anything," Meyer said last week. "Never anything came to light, never had a conversation about it. So I know nothing about it. I asked people back at the office to call and see what happened, and they came back and said they know nothing.”

Meyer fired Smith last week just before Big Ten Football media days began in Chicago when, Meyer says, he found out about recent domestic abuse allegations by Smith's ex-wife Courtney against her former husband.

McMurphy is a former ESPN college football writer/commentator.
