The Boston Globe is reporting that former Fox Sports Detroit Tigers TV announcer Mario Impemba will work Boston Red Sox games on the radio on a platoon basis in the 2019 season.

According to the Globe, he will join several other broadcasters as part of a rotation for Sox flagship station WEEI.  That includes longtime radio voice Joe Castiglione, who enters his 37th season behind the microphone in 2019.

Impemba was first suspended, and then later fired by Fox Sports Detroit after an altercation with broadcast partner Rod Allen following a game last September.  Matt Shepard, Kirk Gibson, and Jack Morris will take Mario and Rod's place this season.
