ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the Dallas Mavericks and forward Dirk Nowitzki are finalizing details on a two-year deal worth around $40 million so that he can remain with the club.

Nowitzki has been with the team since 1998 when he was acquired in a draft-day trade.  And he led the Mavericks to the NBA Championship in 2011, where they defeated the Miami Heat in six games.  Dirk averaged 18 points a game last season.

Nowitzki is the club's all-time leading scorer, and barring injury, will cross the 30,000 point plateau next season.
