Scout.com is reporting that former Spartan Danton Cole will be tabbed to replace Tom Anastos as the head coach of Michigan State hockey.

Cole played for the Spartans from 1985-89, and was a member of the 1986 NCAA Championship squad.

Cole was a student of Waverly HS during his school days, and has coached the U.S. National Development Team out of Ann Arbor the last four seasons.

Danton spent portions of seven seasons in the NHL during his professional playing career.
