The Detroit Red Wings found themselves back in the win column with a 3-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center Tuesday night. Detroit (23-11-9) opened the game's scoring with Darren Helm found the back of the net with Detroit's first short handed goal of the season at the 9:42 mark. The Red Wings then extended their lead in the second on a power play goal from Gustav Nyquist. Buffalo (14-27-3) cut the lead in half on a Mike Weber goal at the 6:38 mark but the Wings pushed the lead back to two goals on a score from Tomas Tatar less than two minutes later. Petr Mrazek stopped 25 of 26 shots in goal for the Wings while Michal Neuvirth stopped 27 Red Wing shots for the Sabres. Detroit next takes the ice Thursday night as they travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues. Puck drops at 6:00 pm
