The deal is reported to be just north of one million dollars for the former Spartan.

Miller is coming off of knee surgery to repair his meniscus and ACL in his left knee. The injury happened in January of this year, he is expected to be ready to go for the start of the 2016-17 season.

Miller is one of the best shot blockers in the NHL. Despite missing over half of the season last year he ranks 11th in total shots blocked over the past two seasons (his average of 1.2 a game, leads the league over that span).

The Red Wings still have three unrestricted free agents they can sign before the open market hits on July 1st, those players are Brad Richards, Kyle Quincey and Darren Helm. They also have four restricted free agents in line to get new deals. Those players are Petr Mrazek, Danny DeKeyser, Alexey Marchenko, and Teemu Pulkkinen.
