Despite a brilliant performance from David Price, the Detroit Tigers dropped the finale of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 Thursday afternoon at Tropicana Field. Tampa Bay (62-65) only managed one hit off of Price (12-9) which was an RBI triple from Brandon Guyer in the first inning . Price pitched eight innings giving up the one hit, striking out nine and retiring the last 23 batters he faced. Alex Cobb (9-6) was almost as sharp as Price getting the win pitching seven innings and only giving up two hits. The Tigers only serious threat was in the 7th with two on and one out but Cobb stranded Victor Martinez and Torii Hunter. Jake McGee pitched the ninth for his 14thsave. Detroit now travels to the Twin Cities for a four game series with the Minnesota Twins. The series starts Friday night when Robbie Ray (1-3) will throw for the Tigers and Tommy Milone (0-1) starts for the Twins. Pregame coverage beings at 7:45pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
