The USA Today Coaches Poll came out for the first time with five teams receiving first place votes. There's a little bit of red mixed in with the usual "blue-bloods" that traditionally top the college basketball ranks.

Maryland is that red that comes in at #3 with five first place votes. They are joined in the top five by co-number one's North Carolina and Kentucky, Duke and Kansas round out the top five.

Michigan State comes in ranked 13th, the second highest Big Ten team behind the aforementioned Maryland. Five Big Ten teams are ranked inside the top 25 and eight teams in all at least received votes in this poll.
