A weekend ice storm coated the Lansing area late Saturday and Sunday, leaving thousands without power.

The National Weather Service told the Lansing State Journal ice totals are difficult to estimate, but about 2 inches of precipitation fell across the region. That accumulation caused about 1,000 outages for Lansing Board of Water & Light customers, although the utility had restored power to most of those affected by Sunday evening.

Thousands of Lansing-area Consumers Energy customers remain without power as of Sunday evening, according to the LSJ. Consumers expects to have the issues rectified by late Monday evening.

The National Weather Service expects no further ice for the region, but the forecast calls for snow and near-freezing temperatures on Monday and Tuesday. Warmer conditions in the 40s return on Wednesday.
