It is easy to look ahead to Friday when a big game and the conference championship is on the line, but the Okemos Chiefs stayed in the present to keep their CAAC-Blue conference title hopes alive with a 59-49 win over Everett on Tuesday.

Despite making more field goals in this game Everett fell by double digits due to Okemos' great work to get to the free throw line. The Chiefs shot 25 more free throw attempts than their opponents and scored 17 more points from the line to tilt the game into their favor.

The Chiefs were led by Jordan Henry who had a 20 point night, he also secured five rebounds and a block. He and Evan Thomas (14 points) were clutch late in the game when Everett was fouling to try and claw back into it. From the free throw line Henry was 8-12, and Thomas was 10-12.

In the loss for Everett three different players led the way with 10 points. Dominque Davidson had a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Allen English put in 10 points off the bench, including a couple of long bombs to keep Everett in it over the course of the game. Raequan Funshes also had 10 points for the Vikings.

The win elevates Okemos to 11-2 in the CAAC-Blue (14-4 overall) and in action elsewhere East Lansing defeated Eastern to also go to 11-2. The Trojans and Chiefs play each other in the CAAC-Blue finale on Friday night in Okemos. You can hear that game here on The Game 730AM WVFN.
