Several High School boys basketball teams are off to a great season and lead area teams in the latest AP poll.

Let's start with Williamston High School.  The Hornets, who are tied atop the CAAC Red standings with Haslett, started the season with nine straight victories before falling to Pickerington Central over the holiday break.

According to the Lansing State Journal, that success has Williamston tied for No. 9 Division 2 in the Inaugural Associated Press boys basketball poll of the season.

Williamston is one of four teams from the Lansing region that appear in the top 10 of their respective divisions in the opening poll.

Another local area team that's doing great as well are the Okemos Chieftains.  CAAC Blue leader Okemos, which is off to a 9-0 start, is ranked No. 4 in Division 1 and is just behind a trio of programs from Detroit.  To find out more about other local teams, please click on the above link.
