The initial Pro Bowl selections were announced on Tuesday and much to the surprise of fans of the Detroit Lions, not a single player from their team was named to the 44 man NFC roster.

The Lions are currently 9-5 and are first place in their division over the Packers. They are in good position to at least secure a wild card spot, if not the division. Both of those scenarios could happen in week 16.

Matthew Stafford is the obvious biggest omission from the Lions roster, the current NFC quarterback stable is Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott. Defenisve players like Darius Slay, Tahir Whitehead and Ezekiel Ansah also could qualify as snubs on the defensive side of the ball.

The Oakland Raiders led the way with seven selections to the Pro Bowl, the Atlanta Falcons led the NFC with six players.

Other teams not sending anyone to the Pro Bowl (for now) are the Jets, the Bears, the Jaguars, the Saints and the 49ers.
