The Big Ten Conference announced on Monday morning that Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie (pictured) is the Big Ten's Defensive Player of the Week.

Bachie, a junior, led the Spartan defense in last Saturday's 24-3 victory over Maryland.  Bachie had seven tackles and forced three fumbles, recovering one of them, during the contest.

The Ohio native was voted as the team's Most Valuable Player last season, and is on a number of watch lists for postseason awards this season.

Michigan State, ranked 24th in the Associated Press poll this week, hosts 8th ranked Ohio State this Saturday afternoon at 12:00pm.
