In a meeting that was called by the Michigan State Board of Trustees on Wednesday, the Board voted to accept the resignation of school interim president John Engler, effective immediately, on Thursday morning.

Engler tendered his resignation on Wednesday night, effective on January 24th.  However, the MSU Board filed a motion, that was passed, that would make his resignation immediate.

After accepting the resignation of Engler, the Board named longtime school administrator Dr. Satish Udpa as the new interim president.

A search for a permanent president is ongoing by the university.  Board members have said that they hope to have that person picked by this coming summer.
