MSU basketball is now underway, defeating Northern Michigan last night in an exhibition game at the Breslin Center. This season as every season there are high expectations.

Tom Izzo has created somewhat of a dynasty at MSU. This team has been in the Final Four many times under his guidance. Tom has developed into one of the best coaches in all college athletics. That's how hard work pays off.

Izzo has won one National Championship. That Championship was in 2000 versus the Florida Gators. Mateen Cleeves was the ultimate leader of that outstanding team. MSU has had some great leaders and warriors like "Magic",Skiles, Cleeves, Day-Day, and now I feel Denzel Valentine is cut from the same cloth. He is a second generation Spartan--his dad of course Carlton. Also, Denzel won two state championships with the Lansing Sexton Big Reds and his dad Carlton was his head coach.

Tom Izzo will not rest until he gets his second National Championship. If not this year with Denzel as a true senior, Izzo has some incoming freshmen next season who are superlative players in the USA. MSU basketball is very well respected in the country. Also, the Big Ten now is only getting better. Michigan, Maryland, Wisconsin are all very competive teams in the nation.

Tom Izzo has his sights set on one more net cutting party in April with another National Championship.
