With starting goaltender Petr Mrazek (pictured) out sick, the Detroit Red Wings called up goaltender Jared Coreau from the Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday morning.  This in advance of Thursday night's road tilt with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Backup Jimmy Howard will start in Mrazek's place, the Wings are currently one point behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with just 12 games to go.

The Wings lost to the Flyers in their last game, 4-3 on Tuesday night in Philadelphia.
