The University of Minnesota has taken the interim tag off of head coach Tracy Claeys and made him the permanent head coach on Wednesday morning, replacing the retired Jerry Kill.

Claeys was the Gophers defensive coordinator under Coach Kill for all five seasons of Kill's tenure.  He took over for Kill on October 28th.  The Gophers have lost both games under Claeys leadership.

Claeys gets a three-year contract.  This is his first head coaching job.
