Cabrera had missed three games earlier this season with spasms in that same bicep back in late April. He also missed a significant chunk of the season so far with a right hamstring strain. Unfortunately for Tigers fans the injury bug's third bite this year was the most severe.

Cabrera was hitting .299 with three home runs and 22 RBIs so far this season.

Video of the swing that ended Cabrera's season:

"Definitely a big blow for our ballclub and that young man. He's been trying to come back and I feel terrible for him. He feels terrible. We gotta try and help him get through this thing. Very sad day for our baseball team though. He's a special player, a special person to have around here. That's a blow. I feel terrible when I saw him do that."

Gardenhire would also go on to say Ronny Rodriguez would be called up to take the spot vacated by Cabrera. The Tigers would go on to lose Tuesday's game 6-4.
