College basketball will be getting an even earlier start next year after the NCAA Division I Council agreed to move the season start for both men and women's basketball to the Tuesday before the second Friday of November.

With this move the State Farm Champions Classic will be moved up to this Tuesday, which next season falls on November 6. Michigan State will play Kansas in the first game of the 2018-19 season, with Duke and Kentucky squaring off in the later contest on the same day.

The 2018 Champions Classic will be held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The Champions Classic began in 2011 and has always featured the same four team playing against each other in a rotation. Kentucky and Duke are both 4-3, while MSU and Kansas have 3-4 records in the Classic.
