Mark Dantonio and his Michigan State football team has discussed the college football national championship.

That conversation has only taken place once so far this training camp, though, and isn't likely to happen again.

Dantonio spoke Monday at his season-opening press conference, part of MSU football media day. The eighth-year head coach said his squad has talked about its goals, and the national title did come up.

"Are we talking about the national championship?" Dantonio said. "We're gonna dream big."

The Spartans are coming off one of the best seasons in school history, where they posted a 13-1 record, won the Big Ten championship and the Rose Bowl. But such achievements may not be enough to satisfy this year's team.

"You always want to go farther than you did before," Dantonio said.
