Martin Kaymer's  performance at this year's U.S. Open was pure greatness. He is the first German-born pro golfer to win the U.S. Open.

Kaymer's brilliant opening-round 65 gave him a six-stroke lead that tied the record 36-hole lead in an Open held by Tiger in 2000 and Rory in 2011.

To me, watching these spectacular rounds was incredible. With the turtle-back green structure, Kaymer dominated the field. This cat was the master at Pinehurst No.2. This course was tough and he made it look easy.

Martin Kaymer is 29 years of age. He already had one major, the 2010 PGA Championship. To me he is one of the best in the world. This young man is quiet, reserved and almost like a machine on the golf course. He was in trouble a few times over the past weekend, and somehow kept the train on track. He sat on the lead wire to wire without flinching. Without Tiger Woods on the tour Kaymer has to take advantage of the limelight and notoriety.

All I can say is this: I always cheer for new people that do well. Martin Kaymer is a fresh face in not only the golf world but all of the sports world. That's why he has become one of the best in the world.
