Martin Frk was a casualty of the Red Wings crowded forward depth chart this season, having to be put on waivers when he didn't make the opening night roster. He was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.

Frk was Detroit's top selection (49th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft. He played in only two games with the Hurricanes (one of which was against Detroit) totaling only one shot and a -3 rating. He was with the Hurricanes for less than a month (claimed October 9th).

Frk has been re-assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins where he played for the better part of the last three years. Last season he played in 67 games for the Griffins and scored 27 goals. He also amassed four pints in four playoff games that year.

To turn a terrible pun, Frk yeah!

Detroit's other waiver casualty Teemu Pulkkinen was assigned be Minnesota in late October down to AHL Iowa, Detroit passed on the opportunity to claim him back for what it's worth.
