Women's tennis star Maria Sharapova was suspended for two years by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

The penalty stems from a positive drug test after her quarterfinal match at this year's Australian Open back in January.

Sharapova's suspension is retroactive to January 26th of this year.  She is ineligible until Jnauray 26th of 2018.

She is one of the few women to ever win the career Grand Slam (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open).
