19th year head coach of the St, Johns HS Red Wings football team Dave Mariage, announced his resignation on Tuesday morning.

He did so via the St. Johns Athletics Facebook page.  Here are his comments:

"I would like to thank my family for their unconditional support throughout my career as a head coach. I would also like to thank all of the players that contributed to the program in my tenure at St. Johns. It has been a blessing to work with an extremely hard working and loyal coaching staff that have helped me to provide what we believe have been great experiences for our players. The administration and the community of St. Johns have been so supportive of our efforts and I would like them to know that they are a large part of any success that we have had and thank them for their dedication to the football program."

Mariage went 124-72 in his tenure at St. Johns, which included a state finals appearance in 2004, where they lost the Division 3 championship to Lowell.  His Red Wings went 5-5 this season, but they won a share of the CAAC Red championship with Haslett and Williamston.
