Lions Pull The “We Were Testing You” Card on Draft Pick

With the 111th pick in the 2016 NFL draft the Detroit Lions selected a safety out of Southern Utah by the name of Miles Killebrew. Among those surprised at the selection... Miles Killebrew.

ESPN is reporting that during the Senior Bowl, Lions officials met with Killebrew and said during the meeting that they didn't want him and did not think he would be a fit in their program.

Killebrew handled it well, telling ESPN: "I was like, 'OK.' I didn’t know how to react. I just took it and said, ‘OK, was there anything else you wanted to ask me? Was that it?’.

You can imagine Killebrew's surprise when he received a phone call from a Michigan area code on the third day of the draft. Lions safeties coach Alan Williams said that they were testing Killebrew to see how he would handle that situation in front of management. The coaching staff admitted they were giving him a hard time and are excited to see him in rookie minicamp.

On the same day he was drafted, Killebrew also graduated from Southern Utah University with a degree in engineering, talk about a whirlwind of a day.
