The Detroit Lions picked up the fifth-year option on the contract of defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah on Monday morning.

The team had until 4pm on Monday to pick up his option.  Ansah was drafted by the Lions in 2013 out of Brigham Young.  He had a career-high 14 1/2 sacks in 2015.

Ansah is now under contract to the Lions through the 2017 season.  He will be an unrestricted free agent after that season.
