After many years of talk, Lansing Catholic High School has finally begun construction on a renovated football field behind the famous area high school.

School principal Tom Maloney hosted the groundbreaking ceremonies on Friday afternoon at the site of the new stadium.  And he thanked the many parties involved that made it happen.

School officials say it will be finished before football season in August.  It is part of a massive renovation of its athletic fields.  The soccer, baseball, and softball fields are all part of the project.

The Lansing Catholic football team has played its home games at Troost Field on the campus of Holt Jr. High for the last decade or so.  The Cougars reached the Division 5 state semifinals in 2015, and were state runners-up in Division 5 in 2014.
