Lansing-Area High School Football Power Rankings: Week 3
No changes at the top of this week's rankings, but there are some in the bottom five.
Conference play begins in the CAAC this week, and I expect more changes in the next week or two. There are 16 area teams that are 2-0.
Here are this week's rankings:
- 1
Mason (2-0)
Last Week: No. 1The league season begins this week against St. Johns. There will be no look ahead to Week 4 when they visit DeWitt.
- 2
Grand Ledge (2-0)
Last Week: No. 2Two impressive wins against West Michigan opponents have them at number 2 this week. Noah Bird is off to a good start at QB, and there is speed at the skill positions. At Sexton this week.
- 3
Lansing Catholic (2-0)
Last Week: No. 3Rebounded as expected against Detroit Community. The White division season opens tough with Williamston and Portland the first two weeks.
- 4
DeWitt (2-0)
Last Week: No. 4The Panthers took care of business against Kingsford last week. Now the Red season starts at Waverly, and then they host Mason in Week 4.
- 5
Portland (2-0)
Last Week: No. 5Ripped Hillsdale 37-14 in Week 2. Will have to play well to beat an improved Fowlerville squad this week before the showdown at Lansing Catholic next week.
- 6
Haslett (2-0)
Last Week: No. 7We know one thing about the Vikings so far, they can play defense!!!!! Allowed only 12 points so far this season. And they should be 3-0 after this week's game against Owosso.
- 7
Lakewood (2-0)
Last Week: No. 9Credit the Vikings for getting off to a good start this season. And they're favored to go to 3-0 after they host Maple Valley.
- 8
Pewamo-Westphalia (2-0)
Last Week: No. 10Annihilated Saranac in the CMAC opener. They play Bath this week, and then the schedule gets tougher with Dansville, Fulton, and Fowler on the slate.
- 9
Jackson (2-0)
Last Week: No. UnrankedCoach Scott Farley has the Vikings revitalized!!! If they can beat East Lansing this week, they'll be 3-0 for the first time since 2003. Way to go!
- 10
Williamston (2-0)
Last Week: UnrankedTough 7-6 win at Holly in Week 2. We'll find out how good they are this week when they host Lansing Catholic. But junior QB Jake Westphal is off to a great start.
