We are now down to the final eight teams in each of the eight divisions in 11-Player high school football, and the final four teams in each of the two divisions of 8-Player football.

And we have six area teams left after last weekend's district finals.  They are:  East Lansing, Mason, Portland, Pewamo-Westphalia, Ovid-Elsie, and to the surprise of many, Haslett.

Why is Haslett being still alive a surprise??  Because they defeated Division 4's number 3 team in Chelsea, 30-22, on the road last Friday night.  Nakai Amachree starred for the Vikings in that game (more info on him below).

And a nod to the area teams eliminated last weekend.  DeWitt, Lansing Catholic, Bath, and Portland St. Patrick.  Expect all four teams to be in the mix next season.

Two undefeated teams remain in Mason and Portland.  And P-W can avenge their only loss of the season this week when they head to North Muskegon (who beat P-W in Week 1, 17-14).

East Lansing is the only area team that is hosting a regional title game this coming weekend.  They get that privilege because Byron Center beat favored Caledonia on the road last week, 31-28.  Byron Center won the game by scoring on the final play of regulation.

And we will have the broadcast of Byron Center at East Lansing this Friday night, starting with the pregame at 6:00pm.  And then Brock Palmbos and Erik "Doc" Love will have the call of the game from Lynn C. Adams Stadium just before 7:00pm.
