The Detroit Tigers began the second half of the season with a 9-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians Friday night at Comerica Park. Detroit (53-38) had taken a 3-0 lead in the Fourth inning when Torii Hunter scored on a throwing error by Yan Gomes after Hunter stole third. The lead held up until the seventh when Cleveland (48-47) exploded for seven runs punctuated by back to back home runs from Jason Kipnis and Asdrubal;Cabrera. Trevor Bauer (4-4) scattered 6 hits in six innings to earn the win while Anibal Sanchez (6-4) pitched six innings and gave up four runs in the loss despite striking out seven.  The two teams continue their four game series with a double header on Saturday.  Corey Kluber (9-6) will start the opening game for the Indians while Drew VerHagen makes his first start of the season for the Tigers.
