The NHL All Star game rosters were announced and surprisingly Jimmy Howard was announced as the Red Wings representative for the game in San Jose.

According to M-Live, the Detroit Red Wings starting goaltender will be one of the two in net for the Atlantic Division at the All Star game in San Jose.    Montreal goaltender Carey Price will be the other in net.

A surprise as you would expect Dylan Larkin to get the nod.   Due to the need to place a player from each team on the roster and the list of many talented forwards Howard got the selection.

This will be the second appearance for Jimmy Howard who was an all star in 2012.  He was selected but missed the 2015 game due to an injury.

The All Star game features 4 teams made up of players from the 4 divisions in the NHL.  They play a three on three format.   The game is set for Saturday Night, January 26th in San Jose.    Check out the NHL All Star site for the full rosters and more details on the game.
