Former Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland has been named the skipper for the United States team when it plays in the World Baseball Classic next year.

Leyland last managed in the major league with the Tigers in 2013.  He also managed the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, and Colorado Rockies during his career.

He won the World Series with the Marlins in 1997.  He took the Tigers to the Fall Classic in 2006 and 2012.
