Fresh off of a State Championship season, Jared Smith has announced his commitment for college football next season.

Jared Smith will head to the Upper Peninsula and play with the Michigan Tech Huskies next season. He takes a very decorated high school track record to Houghton.

He was a State Champion with Pewamo-Westpahlia last season, defeating Detroit Loyola. That was the Pirates' second consecutive trip to the state final, falling to Ishpeming in 2015.

Smith finishes at Pewamo-Westphalia as the state's second best rusher in career yards with 8,182. His junior season of 3,250 yards is a Michigan High School record. He also holds the record for most consecutive 100 yard games, with 33 spanning the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons.

He also has the state season and career records for touchdowns in a season with 53 in his junior season, and 123 overall for a career.

All the best to Jared Smith as he continues the next phase of his football career.
