The University of Illinois has called an afternoon press conference where they will announce Lovie Smith as the school's new head football coach.

Smith reportedly gets a 6-year deal worth $21 million.  Smith has been an NFL head coach for both the Chicago Bears, where they went Super Bowl XLI after the 2006 season.  He was also the head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last two seasons.

New Athletic Director Josh Whitman fired head coach Bill Cubit last Saturday after just one season at the helm.
