It was a stage the Pirates had not been to since the mid-80s. The State final game for all the marbles, and unfortunately just like in 1983 and 1984, P-W came out on the short end.

The Pirates take home runners-up medals in Class C after a hard fought 46-44 loss to Detroit Edison. Hannah Spitzley had a go-ahead shot blocked with four seconds remaining that could have possibly clinched the title for the Pirates. Instead the Pirates were forced to foul only down one at the time.

Edison made the first and missed the second free throw, the Pirates couldn't get off a last second heave to try and win it from deep.

Hannah Sptizley (17 points) and Emily Spitzley (15 points) led the way for P-W while Rickea Jackson from Detroit Edison led all scorers with 21.

The Pirates finished with a 24-3 record on the year and the third state finalist trophy in Girls Basketball for the school.
