The Braves drew first blood in managerial firings as Fredi Gonzalez was relieved of his duties on Tuesday according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Gonzalez posted a 434-413 record since taking over in 2011. The Braves currently sit at 9-28, the worst record in baseball. Gonzalez was named manager of the year after the 2008 season by Sporting News.

The Atlanta Braves promoted Brian Snitker to interim manager for the remaining the season. Snitker was Atlanta's third-base from 2006 to 2013 until he was promoted to manager of the Braves Triple-A club.

The Braves also fired bench coach Carlos Tosca and dubbed Terry Pendleton as the club's new bench coach.
