A pair of national sports talk radio hosts are accusing Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio of hanging up on them during a live interview Wednesday morning.

Dantonio joined "FOX Sports Daybreak" with Andy Furman and Mike North. At times, the interview grew somewhat contentious as the hosts asked Dantonio about Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh (which hasn't gone over well in the past), as well as questions about former Spartans quarterback Connor Cook not being elected a captain by his peers and why MSU does not seem to get the same respect as other Top 10 programs nationally.

Here's an excerpt of the interview's transcript:

"FOX Sports Radio host: Coach, Connor Cook leaves your program with a record of 34-5. He was a team leader. I was somewhat shocked when I read last year that he was not named captain by his teammates. Was there any reason why? I thought that was somewhat unusual that as a quarterback not voted captain by his teammates."

Dantonio: "That's 2016. We're passed that."

Host: "Michigan State is now one of six Power Five schools with a winning percentage of .800 or more since the year 2010. Do you feel Coach that maybe you don't get the respect nationally (you deserve) because of those statistics? I don't see it."

Dantonio: "Well you know we've been in the Top 10 the last three years. I don't know. You do what you do. I mean you guys are the guys talking out there and you ask questions that sometimes don't really make a lot of sense. As this point in time we just focus on the future and we're primed to do great things here in 2016. So we'll be ready."

Host: "When Coach says 'you ask questions that don't make any sense', that hits close to home with me Coach I've got to be honest with you. But I understand completely what you're talking about. I've got to ask you about the state of your ball club now. Any injuries? And who is the new kid in town behind center?"

Dantonio:(Silence, followed by clicking sound)

Host: "Coach? Coach is gone. He hung up! You got him all hot!"

North also asked Dantonio a question about his relationship with MSU basketball coach Tom Izzo that some on social media have characterized as racist.

"Hey coach, you eat pasta with Izzo?" North asked.

"Yeah, Tom lives right down the street from me, about five houses, so we're very good friends," Dantonio replied.

After the interview abruptly ended, Furman and North said an MSU spokesperson called them back and said Dantonio did not hang up on them but that the connection was lost. The FOX Sports Radio hosts didn't buy that, though.
