The Detroit Free Press is reporting on Thursday that Fox Sports Detroit has picked Larry Murphy (pictured, #55) to replace Darren Eliot on the network's studio coverage, as well as select games in the TV booth with Ken Daniels.

This is Murphy's second tour of duty with FSD.  He was with the network from 2003 until 2013, when he was fired.

Murphy was a Hall of Fame defenseman in the NHL for four different teams, including the Detroit Red Wings.  He was a member of the Wings' Stanley Cup championship teams in 1997 & 1998.

The aforementioned Darren Eliot is leaving his role with the Red Wings to take a job in the Vegas Golden Knights front office.
