WTTV-TV in Indianapolis is confirming a report from WJBK in Detroit that former Central Michigan and Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton accidentally shot himself on Tuesday morning when a gun that he had in his vehicle discharged after he pulled in and parked his car at a Detroit-area car dealership.  He later died at a Detroit-area hospital.

Tipton played his high school ball at Sterling Heights Parkway Christian HS before heading to Mount Pleasant, where he gained over 2,000 yards during his college career.  He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Indianapolis Colts two years ago.

Tipton was just 26 years old.
