1. Tigers Lose 3 Straight vs Rays

The Detroit Tigers lost 3 out of 4 this weekend against the streaking Tampa Bay Rays.  They were outscored 20-8 during the losing streak and did not score more than 3 runs after scoring 8 runs in the opening game of the 4 game series.  The Tigers have a day off today before they welcome the Los Angels Dodgers for a two game series.  They will then go to Kansas City before the All-Star Break.

2. Novak Djokovic Beat Out Roger Federer For The Wimbledon Title

In a 5 set thriller, top seed Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4.  The match took 3 hours and 56 minuets and Djokovic edged Roger in most statistical series.  Federer, 31, would have won a record 8th Wimbledon but falls to 7-2 in Wimbledon finals.  Tennis takes a back seat now as the next major tournament will be the US Open in Late August.

3. MLB All-Star Teams Announced

The MLB All-Star teams were announced yesterday.  The Tigers have 3 all-stars, Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Max Scherzer.  Rick Porcello is in the final vote for the American League.  Baltimore has 3 starters for the American Leagues and Milwaukee has 2 starters for the National League.  Recently traded Jeff Samardzija was selected to the NL team but because he was traded to Oakland, he will not be able to participate in the game.

4. LeBron James To Meet With Pat Riley

According to USA Today LeBron James is going to meet with Pat Riley.  LeBron's agent has been talking to other possible suitors for LeBron James.  Some of the teams included in the talks are Cleveland and Phoenix.  Many people believe that teams are waiting for LeBron to make a decision before they sign other free agents.

5. Brazil Advances At A Cost

Brazil advanced into the semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Colombia.  But, after the game, Brazil star Neymar is ruled out of the remainder of the tournament with a vertebra injury.  Brazil will need to regroup as they play another world powerhouse, Germany, on Tuesday.  Argentina advanced and will play the Netherlands.
