The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan recently announced their finalists for the 2018 Miss Basketball award and a local area player is in the final four.

East Lansing senior guard Jaida Hampton is one of those players left in consideration for the honor.

Hampton has been a leader for East Lansing's girls basketball this season. The Trojans finished the regular season 20-0 and Hampton averaged over 16 points and five rebounds a game this season.

Hampton was also a part of a record breaking performance when the Trojans made 23 three-point baskets in their win over Lansing Sexton earlier this month. She is currently committed to Wichita State for her college basketball career.

The Trojans are ranked second in the Class A poll ahead of the state tournament. East Lansing will face Grand Ledge tonight in their first tournament game in their bid for a Class A championship.

The other Miss Basketball nominees are Camree Clegg (Wayne Memorial), Lasha Petree (Ypsilanti Arbor Prep), and Kaela Webb (Detroit Country Day).
