According to The Vertical, Deyonta Davis signed a three-year $4 million dollar contract with the Memphis Grizzles. Davis' contract is the richest for an American-born second-round pick.

Davis was selected 31st overall by the Boston Celtics but his rights were traded to Memphis shortly after the NBA draft.

During his one year at Michigan State University he appeared in 36 games for  and averaged nearly eight points a game for the Spartans. As a freshmen Davis blocked 4.1 shots per 40 minutes. Many draft experts projected him as a mid-first-rounder in the draft.

The Memphis Grizzlies finished third in the southwest division and were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.
