Lakeland, FL - The Detroit Tigers geared up for their first exhibition game of the season today against Florida Southern.

After spending much of the game down 1-0, the Tigers rallied in the 7th inning to take the lead and win 6-1.

Jacoby Jones, Mikey Mahtook, James McCann and Jim Adduci were among the more notable names on the Tigers roster that started.

Relief pitchers Joe Jimenez and Alex Wilson also appeared on the mound with minor leaguer Kevin Comer getting the start.

Detroit's major leaguers collectively went 1-7 at the plate.

Tigers fielding showed a need for a bit more discipline. After committing four errors in the first four innings, the Tigers righted the ship, holding the Moccasins scoreless during the final five innings.

Today's win puts the Tigers ahead in the total win-loss count of the game as well. They lead 29-1-2.

Tomorrow the Tigers officially begin spring training baseball against the Yankees at their sight in Tampa Bay. Broadcast coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET on 1240 WJIM.

With many eyes set on the Tigers for this season as they go through a rebuild year, many will be watching to see how well young Tigers talent has developed.
